Great column. Like you, I was drawn to politics by Humphrey and his obvious integrity and optimism, even though my own politics have evolved toward the center-right. I can't help but think that not just Hubert, but Truman, FDR, Jefferson, and Scoop Jackson are all shaking their heads at the party of Pelosi, Reid, and Dean.
